FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan on Saturday recorded a landmark victory by winning the ODI series against South Africa on home soil for the first time.
The hosts dominated the final match at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, completing their chase with a staggering 149 balls to spare, marking the largest margin in the series.
Pakistan’s triumph over South Africa represents their first bilateral ODI series win at home against the Proteas. South Africa, who had previously dominated Pakistan in away and neutral venues, were outplayed across both batting and bowling departments.

Quinton de Kock top-scored with 53, while Pretorius contributed 39. Seven other players failed to reach double figures. Abrar Ahmed was the standout bowler for Pakistan, taking four wickets, supported by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Ali Agha, and Mohammad Nawaz, who took two wickets each.
Pakistan reached the target in just 25.1 overs, finishing on 144–3. Saim Ayub led the chase with 77 runs off 70 balls, while Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 32. The commanding victory highlighted Pakistan’s clinical execution and team balance.
Pakistan’s success was backed by crucial contributions from both bat and ball. Saim Ayub’s 77 and Rizwan’s unbeaten 32 anchored the innings, while Abrar Ahmed’s four-wicket haul and support from Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz put South Africa under constant pressure.
The series itself had been evenly poised, with Pakistan narrowly winning the first ODI by two wickets and South Africa leveling in the second ODI with an eight-wicket victory. The decisive third ODI now gives Pakistan a historic 2-1 series win on home soil.
