SYDNEY (Dunya News) – Pakistan's fast bowler Irfan Junior has been handed a five-match suspension after being found guilty of ball tampering during a Victoria Premier League match in Australia.
According to Australian media reports, umpires accused Irfan of deliberately damaging the ball during the game, which led to an investigation by Cricket Victoria.
After reviewing the incident, the Cricket Victoria Tribunal confirmed the ball tampering charge and imposed the five-match ban on the Pakistani cricketer.
Irfan Junior, who previously played first-class cricket in Pakistan and was part of various franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has been playing domestic cricket in Australia since relocating there a few years ago.
Having initially played for local clubs, Junior was eventually cleared to participate in domestic tournaments, where he continued to make a name for himself in Australia's competitive cricket scene.
While the ban applies to his participation in Australia’s domestic cricket competitions, Junior has yet to comment publicly on the matter. Cricket authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as the fast bowler serves his suspension.
