Zohran Mamdani turns out to be a fan of Ramiz Raja

(Web Desk) – The newly elected Asian-origin Democratic Socialist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, has been revealed to be a fan of Pakistani cricket commentator Ramiz Raja.

The 34-year-old Mamdani, who was elected as New York City Mayor on Tuesday, became the subject of a viral video circulating on various social media platforms. The clip, now reshared by Ramiz Raja himself, shows Mamdani addressing his campaign team, where he boosts their morale by quoting the commentator’s famous line:
“To snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.”

Former Pakistani cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja reshared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and congratulated the newly elected mayor.

He wrote: “Many congratulations, Mr. Mamdani, and thank you for being a fan of commentary. You played with a straight bat and exposed those who don’t play cricket. Very proud of you!”
