ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed a ceasefire violation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, stating that elements from across the border opened unprovoked fire at Pakistani positions in the Chaman sector.
According to the official statement, Pakistani security forces responded swiftly and effectively, exercising restraint and responsibility during the exchange. The ministry said the situation was brought under control through a professional and calculated response from the Pakistani side.

Officials rejected Afghanistan’s claims that Pakistan initiated the firing, asserting that the first shots were fired from the Afghan side. The statement emphasised that Pakistani forces acted with full responsibility to stabilise the situation.
The ministry further stated that the ceasefire remains intact and that Pakistan remains committed to continuing dialogue. Islamabad expressed hope for mutual cooperation from Afghan authorities to prevent such incidents in the future.
The firing incident comes at a time when Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban are holding the third round of talks in Istanbul, aimed at strengthening joint measures to combat terrorism and ensure border stability.
