LAHORE (Web Desk) – Lahore Safari Park is set to welcome giraffes for the very first time, marking a new addition to the city’s wildlife attractions.
The arrival follows the completion of a month-long quarantine for twelve giraffes imported from South Africa, under the supervision of the Punjab Wildlife Department.
According to officials, the giraffes were brought to Lahore last month and kept under observation at the Safari Park to ensure their health and adaptation to local conditions. Out of the twelve, nine will soon move permanently to Lahore Safari Park, while three are destined for the historic Lahore Zoo.
Due to the prevailing smog and poor air quality in Lahore, the animals remain temporarily housed in their quarantine enclosure. A dedicated team of veterinary experts continues to monitor their diet, behaviour, and overall wellbeing to ensure a smooth transition into their new environment.
Safari Café
Park authorities have also revealed plans for a new attraction – a themed Safari Café. The upcoming venue will offer visitors a rare opportunity to dine close to the giraffes, creating an immersive wildlife experience in a natural setting.
It is the first time Lahore Safari Park will host giraffes, although Lahore Zoo has previously cared for them. Three giraffes were imported for the zoo in 2017, but two later died – one in the same year due to illness and another in February 2022. Only one female giraffe currently resides at the zoo, soon to be joined by three new companions from the latest consignment.
