LAHORE (Dunya News) - Tanveer Naqvi composed many evergreen songs for the film industry and was honored with numerous awards in the fields of film and literature.
Tanzeer Naqvi’s real name was Syed Khurshid Ali, but he gained fame in the film world under the name Tanveer Naqvi. He was a successful film lyricist and a renowned ghazal poet. He rose to prominence by writing the songs for the 1959 film “Koel, which remained beloved across generations, both before the Partition and for those born in Pakistan afterward.
His songs achieved immense popularity in their time. In 1960, his song “Raqs Mein Hai Sara Jahan from the film “Ayaaz" became one of the most popular songs of that era. Tanveer Naqvi was recognized as an outstanding poet and accomplished lyricist. His songs from the film “Anarkali” and several others created a sensation.
Many of his compositions were immortalized by the artistry of renowned musicians and the voices of famous singers of the time. Tanveer Naqvi passed away on 1st November 1972 in Lahore.
