Five injured as garments factory blaze triggers building collapse in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) - A massive fire broke out at a garments factory in New Karachi, causing the three-storey building to collapse with a loud explosion, leaving five firefighters injured.

According to rescue officials, the fire erupted in a factory located in Sector 8-A, New Karachi. Two fire tenders initially reached the site, but as the blaze intensified, additional units were called in.

A total of 14 fire tenders, a water bowser, and a snorkel were engaged in extinguishing the fire when the building suddenly collapsed due to weakened foundations. The collapse resulted in five firefighters getting injured, two of whom are in critical condition. Authorities fear more people may be trapped under the debris.

The blaze also spread to the shuttering of an under-construction building adjacent to the factory, but rescue teams managed to control it. The neighboring building sustained minor damage due to the collapse.
