HYDERABAD (Dunya News) - A fishing boat carrying fishermen capsized in the Indus River at Kotri Barrage on Thursday, killing one fisherman, while two others were rescued, Dunya News reported.
The incident occurred at night when the fishermen had gone for fishing. Due to the strong water current, the boat hit a pillar of the bridge and overturned. A 50-year-old fisherman, Khuda Bakhsh alias Khudan Mallah, a resident of Darya Band Colony in Kotri, drowned in the river as a result.
The drowned fisherman's son informed that the boat overturned after hitting the bridge pillar, and his father was swept away by the water. He and his brother managed to save themselves by holding onto the boat.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene upon being informed, and the search for the drowned fisherman’s body is still ongoing.
