CM Maryam directs officials to remain on high alert in anticipation of eighth monsoon spell

Maryam Nawaz instructs timely deployment of relief teams in vulnerable areas

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday directed the departments concerned to remain on high alert in anticipation of the possible eighth spell of monsoon rains.

The chief minister directed the officials of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Gujrat, and Gujranwala to complete all the necessary arrangements in the wake of rains.

Maryam Nawaz directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain on high alert and ensure strict implementation of PDMA’s early warnings, SOPs, and safety guidelines.

CM Maryam instructed the timely deployment of relief teams in vulnerable areas.

She also emphasised the importance of using mosques and loudspeakers to issue evacuation announcements where needed.

“The Clinic-on-Wheels and field hospitals should be deployed to provide medical treatment to flood victims,” said the chief minister.

Maryam Nawaz also ordered vaccination and medical facilities for livestock in flood-affected regions.

Special arrangements are to be made in areas along the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers, with PDMA and relevant authorities instructed to remain fully prepared.

For communities residing near the Sutlej River, the CM directed rescue services, district administrations, police, and other departments to ensure prompt evacuations and necessary safety measures.

She further ordered pre-emptive relocation of livestock to safer areas and mobilised departments including agriculture, irrigation, health, forests, livestock, local government, and transport to remain on alert.
