Melbourne Stars unveil 'House of Rauf' stand for Pakistani fans at MCG

Melbourne Stars have launched a dedicated “House of Rauf” stand at the MCG

MELBOURNE (Web Desk) - In a bid to celebrate multiculturalism and engage South Asian supporters, Melbourne Stars have launched a dedicated “House of Rauf” stand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season.

The initiative, named after Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf, will create a vibrant match-day atmosphere for Pakistani fans, featuring food, music, and cultural festivities.

Stars’ General Manager Max Abbott said the stand was designed to honour Pakistani fans and their contribution to the club’s support base. “We want Pakistani fans to come, enjoy our matches, and showcase their heritage,” he said.

Rauf, who has been part of the Stars since 2019, has become a fan favourite with 36 wickets in 22 BBL games at an economy of 7.75. Abbott hailed him as an “incredible ambassador” for both the team and the Pakistani community.

The initiative also aligns with Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, which promotes inclusivity and diversity in the sport. The BBL season begins on December 14 with Perth Scorchers facing Sydney Sixers, while the Stars start their campaign against Hobart Hurricanes on December 18.
