ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – On the occasion of Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, during which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag.
Federal ministers were also present at the flag hoisting ceremony, along with a large number of school children. Young children dressed in cultural attire presented flowers to the Prime Minister upon his arrival at the Pakistan Monument.
During the ceremony, the national anthem was sung with patriotic fervor. On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered a special prayer for the country's safety, progress, and prosperity, and laid a wreath at the Pakistan Monument.
Earlier, the PM had invited all political parties, stakeholders and civil society to join the Misaq-i-Istehkam-i-Pakistan (Charter for Stability of Pakistan).
Addressing the 78th Independence Day ceremony at Jinnah Sports Ground in Islamabad, the prime minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation, stating, “Today is not just a celebration of freedom, but a reminder of the struggle for the Two-Nation Theory.”
Addressing the event, the prime minister emphasised the urgent need for unity and collective thinking, stating, “The time has come for us to move beyond political division, personal interest, and empty slogans. On this great day, I once again, with an open heart, invite all political parties, stakeholders, and civil society to become part of the Misaq-i-Istehkam-i-Pakistan.”

He added that it was not a revival of the Charter of Economy, but a broader initiative aimed at fostering national unity and stability.
He stressed that the purpose was to demonstrate to the world that while political differences exist, the nation stands united for the greater good of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif thanked the friendly countries for supporting Pakistan during standoff with India.
