Bosch fined for provocative send-off in 2nd T20I

Bosch aimed a provocative gesture towards the opposition dugout.

DARWIN (Web Desk) – South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been fined for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia on Tuesday.

The charge falls under Article 2.5, which covers “language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”

The incident occurred in the 17th over of Australia’s innings when, after removing Ben Dwarshuis, Bosch aimed a provocative gesture towards the opposition dugout.

Bosch accepted the ICC Match Officials’ proposed sanction, which added one demerit point to his record, avoiding a formal hearing.

The game itself proved crucial for South Africa, who needed a win to level the series. A blistering unbeaten 125 from Dewald Brevis – reaching his hundred in just 41 balls – powered the Proteas to 218/7.

Australia’s chase showed promise with Tim David’s 24-ball 50, but three wickets apiece from Bosch and Kwena Maphaka restricted them to 165, handing South Africa a 53-run win.

The series decider will be played in Cairns on Saturday, 16 August, before the ODI series kicks off on 19 August.
