Foreign Office says attack is a grave breach of humanitarian law

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “deepest condolences” to the victims’ families and reaffirmed “unwavering solidarity” with the Palestinian people during what it called a period of profound suffering.

Pakistan has been continuously reiterating its support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for an independent and contiguous Palestinian state along pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Israeli attack on civilians in Gaza

Palestinians reported the heaviest bombardments in weeks on Monday in areas east of Gaza City, including Sabra, Zeitoun, and Shejaia. Witnesses described tanks and aircraft pounding these districts, forcing many families to flee westward. The escalation came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled an expanded offensive against Hamas.

An airstrike also killed six journalists sheltering at the Al Shifa Hospital compound, among them prominent Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al Sharif. This is the deadliest strike on journalists during an Israeli campaign now in its 23rd month. Residents said the night’s intensity was among the worst in weeks, heightening fears of a deeper incursion into Gaza City, which Hamas claims is sheltering about one million displaced people.

Israel steps up Gaza City bombing after Netanyahu vow to expand offensive

Israel is facing mounting condemnation for its genocidal war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,400 people since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
