LAHORE (Dunya News) - A fire erupted at the doctors' hostel of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore, leaving several doctors injured due to burns, rescue officials confirmed.
According to rescue sources, firefighting teams promptly reached the scene upon receiving the alert and managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing further damage.
Dr Amir Rafiq Butt, Medical Superintendent of PIC, also reached the site and stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
He confirmed that over 10 injured, including hospital employee Muhammad Haris, were shifted to Services Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Dr Amir Rafiq Butt added that rescue personnel successfully evacuated two people who were trapped inside a hostel room.

The fire has been extinguished, and cooling process is now underway.
Earlier, a huge fire at a factory in the Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) near Landhi, which injured eight people and damaged at least three nearby factories, was brought under control on Thursday after several hours of rescue operations.
Sources reported that the intensity of the fire increased rapidly, engulfing the entire building and injuring eight people. Explosions were also heard intermittently from within the burning factory.
Fire brigade officials classified the blaze as a third-degree fire. A total of 16 fire tenders and 2 water bowsers were engaged in extinguishing the flames. The five-story building’s roof have already collapsed.
