Pakistan, Iran agree to boost trade volume to $10 billion: Ishaq Dar

The forum ended on a positive note, with both sides ready to join hands

 ISLAMABAD  (Dunya News) – Pakistan and Iran have agreed to take their bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during the Pakistan-Iran Business Forum held in Islamabad.

The event was attended by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian Trade Minister Mohammad Ata Atabak, and Pakistan’s Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal. National anthems of both countries were played at the start, setting the tone for a warm and productive exchange.

In his address, Ishaq Dar called the business forum a step in the right direction, stating that there are plenty of opportunities for investment in Pakistan’s agriculture and industrial sectors.

He added that Pakistan and Iran share strong religious and cultural ties, and both sides are eager to push forward their trade relations.

Dar emphasized the need to clear the hurdles in bilateral trade and to make full use of available trade potential.

He said the government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and that all major economic indicators in Pakistan are now moving in the right direction, showing signs of growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal highlighted the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran.

He said both countries aim to boost cross-border trade and will encourage all efforts to strengthen economic cooperation.

Iranian Trade Minister Muhammad Ata Atabak also expressed optimism, saying he was glad to see trade between the two neighbors on the rise.

He noted that better connectivity and increased commerce would benefit both nations.
