KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prominent lawyer Khawaja Shamsul Islam was shot dead outside a mosque in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6 area on Friday.
According to police, both Khawaja Shamsul Islam and his son were shot at in the assassination attempt.
He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on the way, SSP South confirmed.
Two bullet casings were recovered from the scene and will be sent for forensic analysis.
Khawaja Shamsul Islam had been practicing law for over 30 years and had previously survived an assassination attempt in 2024.

Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjhar summoned SSP South for details of the initial investigation.
The minister directed the police team to swiftly arrest those involved in the firing and to keep him updated with moment-by-moment reports on the case.
The incident has sparked concern within the legal community, raising questions about security measures for lawyers.
