ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Emir Hafiz Abdul Karim called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Saturday.
During the meeting, the prime minister congratulated Hafiz Abdul Karim on his recent victory in the Senate election.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed his hope that Senator Abdul Karim will play an influential role in legislation, guided by his religious and political perspectives.
Senator Hafiz Abdul Karim expressed his gratitude to the prime minister and the PML-N leadership for the trust reposed in the Senate election.
The overall political situation in the country was also discussed during the meeting.
PML-N's Hafiz Abdul Karim wins Senate seat from Punjab
Earlier, PML-N clinched the Senate seat from Punjab as Hafiz Abdul Karim got elected as the member of the upper house of the Parliament on Monday.
The PML-N-backed candidate got 243 votes and became Senator on the seat that fell vacant after the demise of Prof Sajid Mir.
A total of 345 members cast their votes for the seat, with four candidates in the race.
A minimum of 185 votes were required to win. The ruling coalition had the support of 261 votes, while the opposition had 108.
