PM Shehbaz launches 'Police Station on Wheels' in Islamabad

Highlights citizen-friendly policing and tech integration during visit to Safe City Command Center

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday visited the Safe City Capital Command and Control Centre in Islamabad, where he inaugurated the new Police Station on Wheels project.

During the visit, Islamabad Police Inspector-General Ali Nasir Rizvi briefed the prime minister, stating that the mobile police units aim to facilitate citizens with services like FIR registration and driving licenses, particularly for individuals over 60.

As a symbolic gesture, PM Shehbaz was presented with the first honourary driving license issued by the mobile station and shown the first FIR registered under the new system.

The prime minister also toured several Safe City facilities, including the Police Operations Centre, Online Women Police Station, Taxi Verification System, and the Hunch Lab. He was informed that Islamabad is currently monitored by 3,257 surveillance cameras under the Safe City system, which plays a key role in managing events, religious observances, and emergencies.

IG Rizvi highlighted the use of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and facial recognition for effective monitoring.

In recognition of their efforts, PM Shehbaz distributed laptops to young professionals working on special cases within Safe City and personally acknowledged the contributions of police personnel.
