LAYYAH (Dunya News) - A medium-level flood is recorded in Indus River at Layyah owing to which dozens of villages were inundated and standing crops over thousands of acres were destroyed, Dunya News reported.
According to details, more than 40 villages have been swept away, and crops over thousands of acres have been affected. The PDMA has issued an alert, stating that a massive 424,000 cusec flood wave is expected to pass through Layyah region tonight.
Meanwhile, the district administration has set up 13 flood relief camps and 9 rescue points in Layyah region. The residents started to shift their livestock and other belongings to safer places.
On the other hand, the protective embankment of the Sutlej River has been damaged, submerging several villages and crops under water. In Ferozewala, a 30-foot-wide breach occurred in the Bhair Nullah embankment, causing water to enter nearby residential areas.
