The Senate Secretariat has issued a 42-point agenda for today’s session
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Senate will resume its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad today (Monday) evening. Besides legislative business, the House will discuss matters of national and international importance.
The Senate Secretariat has issued a 42-point agenda for today’s session.
As per the agenda, Senator Sarmad Ali will present a bill to amend the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, Senator Dr Afnan Ullah will present the Cannabis Regulatory Authority Act, 2024, and Senator Dr Zarqa Taimur Suharwardy will present an amendment bill to the Drug Regulatory Authority Act, 2012.
Senator Fauzia Arshad's amendment bill to the National Vocational Training Commission Act, 2011 is also part of the agenda. The Social Media (Age-Restricted Users) Bill, 2025 is also included in the agenda, and a bill to amend the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 202will also come under consideration during the session.
A bill to amend the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Act, 2021 will be presented for approval. Senator Anusha Rahman's bill concerning State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) (Amendment) Bill, 202 is also included in the agenda. Discussions are also expected to amend Fatal Accidents Act, 1855, and amendments to the criminal laws.
In addition, a bill to amend Article 51 of the Constitution of Pakistan will also come under discussion in the session. A debate on the performance of the NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) is on the agenda, along with a motion by Senator Kamran Murtaza. The House will also hold a discussion on the issue of unemployment among the youth of Balochistan.
On the other hand, the Senate will also hold a discussion on the growing trend of drug use in educational institutions. Senator Shibli Faraz will present a resolution calling for an immediate national strategy against drugs. Senator Irfan Siddiqui's bill to amend the Senate Rules and Procedures is also part of the agenda.
