Court issues arrest warrants for CM Gandapur in liquor, illegal arms recovery case

The court directed the police to arrest Gandapur and produce him before the court

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad issued the arrest warrants of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with the liquor and illegal weapons recovery case.

The court directed the police to arrest Gandapur and produce him before the court. The non-bailable arrest warrants were issued by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti.

Earlier, CM Gandapur had submitted a request for exemption from personal appearance, which the court rejected.

The case hearing has been adjourned until July 21. The case pertains to the alleged recovery of liquor and illegal arms from the PTI leader in a previous incident.

Earlier during the proceedings, Gandapur’s lawyer presented a ruling from the Peshawar High Court, arguing that the Islamabad Sessions Court does not have the jurisdiction to issue arrest warrants for his client.

The counsel requested that the court schedule the next hearing in September, but the plea was denied.

It is worth mentioning that the case, filed at Islamabad’s Bara Kahu police station, alleged the recovery of illegal arms and liquor from Gandapur.
