Teachers challenge testing in LHC Multan Bench

Petitioner requested court to intervene to annul the testing process

MULTAN (Dunya News) - The decision to conduct testing for government school teachers in Punjab was challenged in the Lahore High Court Multan Bench.

The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.

The petition, submitted by Muhammad Faizan, Government Elementary School Sahiwal headteacher, argues that the provincial government’s directive to administer tests under the pretext of training and assessment undermines the teaching staff.

Faizan contends that the approximately 350,000 government school teachers in Punjab, who have long contributed to the education sector, should not be subjected to additional testing after already being hired based on strict examinations and interviews.

According to the petition, the provincial Chief Executive Officers issued schedules for these assessments, allegedly as part of a broader agenda aimed at pressuring teachers and moving toward the privatization of government schools.

The petitioner further states that educators across Punjab are voicing strong opposition to this measure and requested that the court intervene to annul the testing process for the teachers across the province.
