Govt wants to appoint chief justice of its choice: Sheikh Waqas

Says PTI has reservations about constitutional amendment package

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - PTI information secretary Sheikh Waqas has said the government wants to appoint SC chief justice of its choice and make this act justified with the passage of controversial constitutional amendment package in parliament, adding PTI founder’s guidance is vital for the party on the issue.

Appearing on Dunya TV programme ‘TONIGHT with Samar Abbas’, the PTI information secretary said, “All judges are respectable, but the most senior judge should be the chief justice of Pakistan.

“We have reservations about constitutional amendment package. This package has not been approved unanimously. The government wants to appoint CJ of its choice.

“We have Maulana’s draft, which is better than all the previous drafts. We are not agreed on the draft prepared by the government.”

Sheikh Waqas said, “We trust all our MNAs. They stand with PTI founder Imran Khan. They will not vote in favour of the constitutional amendment package. The government wanted to ban PTI.”
