ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A significant breakthrough has occurred regarding the 26th Constitutional Amendment, as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have backed away from their stance proposing the establishment of constitutional courts.
According to sources, a special parliamentary committee meeting reached an agreement among government coalition parties and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) on the formation of a constitutional bench.
Parliamentary sources revealed that the government and JUI have decided to consult with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on a joint draft, which Maulana Fazlur Rehman will share with PTI leadership.

It may be recalled that on Monday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman rejected the government’s draft of the constitutional amendment saying that it could potentially infringe on individual freedoms.
He said that his party had raised objections to the government's draft amendments "that would undermine both judicial and public rights."
However, after discussion with the PPP leadership, many provisions have been withdrawn.
