ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The special parliamentary committee's meeting on Wednesday ended without reaching any conclusions.
A follow-up session was scheduled for Thursday at noon.
According to sources, the meeting was chaired by Syed Khurshid Shah, where the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), presented a draft of the constitutional amendments.
The insiders revealed that BAP suggested increasing the number of seats in both the Balochistan Assembly and the National Assembly. Additionally, the party proposed appointing a panel of five judges, instead of the current three, for judicial appointments.
The committee merged the proposed drafts of PML-N, PPP, JUI-F, and ANP. This joint draft will be reviewed later tonight in a meeting chaired by PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, the sources said.
Committee Chairman Syed Khurshid Shah told media representatives that drafts from BNP and BAP were also submitted, while PTI's Chief Whip Amir Dogar requested the postponement of the meeting, citing PTI's ongoing internal discussions on the constitutional amendment. On Dogar's request, the meeting was adjourned until tomorrow.
