IHC allows meeting between PTI founder, sister Noreen Niazi

Jail officials presented threat alert notification from Ministry of Interior

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed authorities to allow meeting between sister Noreen Niazi and PTI founder Imran Khan.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard Noreen Niazi's petition challenging the ban. The Additional Attorney General, Munwar Iqbal Dugal, and the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail appeared before the court.

The jail officials presented a threat alert notification from the Ministry of Interior, which they said clarified the ban on all visits to the jail.

Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, argued that immediate family members, especially a sister and a personal physician, should always be allowed to visit.

He stressed the need for Imran Khan's doctor, Dr Asim, to assess his health, questioning what would happen if a medical emergency arose.

The Deputy Superintendent informed the court that the ban on meetings at Adiala Jail was imposed from October 5 to October 18. After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its decision, which was later announced in favour of Noreen Niazi.

The court ordered that the meeting between Imran Khan and his sister be arranged according to the jail manual once the ban is lifted.

Also, Chief Justice Farooq requested a medical report on Imran Khan's health and instructed jail authorities to ensure the PTI founder received the best medical treatment.
