(Web Desk) - Google has unveiled a new AI feature called ‘contextual smart replies’ in its email app Gmail, letting users quickly respond to incoming emails.
The contextual version is aimed to send detailed responses compared to the Smart Reply feature, which dates back to 2017.
Gmail’s Smart Reply feature is getting smarter with Google’s AI Assistant Gemini that will analyse the context of an email and suggest replies that are “tailored to your conversation.”
You will see multiple reply suggestions offering distinct tone and theme appear at the bottom of the screen based on the full content of the email thread in a carousel format.
You can preview the first few words of the title and the content by long-pressing each response.
The AI tool will generate a full reply to the email, including a greeting and closing, multiple long paragraphs and all the information the sender is seeking.
Users can also modify responses of your choice with further edits and adding more information before sending.
It is to be noted that the Gemini-powered feature is only available to Google Workspace users including Gemini Business, Education, Education Premium, Enterprise and Google One AI Premium and in English language.
This feature will be rolled out to all users including iOS and desktop.
