(Web Desk) - Google has unveiled a series of new features for its Chrome browser on mobile devices aimed at enhancing the search experience amidst rising competition from startups like Arc.
These updates, announced Wednesday, include several improvements such as easier local search shortcuts, a revamped address bar for smoother navigation, trending search suggestions directly in the address bar, personalized search recommendations based on user habits, and live sports updates integrated into the Discover Feed.
One of the standout features, Chrome Actions, now extends to local search results, allowing users on Android devices to swiftly access actions like "Call," "Directions," and "Reviews" for local businesses without navigating through settings.
The improved address bar design specifically benefits iPad and Android tablet users, enabling them to seamlessly access it while keeping the current webpage visible on their larger screens.
Google also introduced shortcut suggestions tailored to users' past searches, ensuring quicker access to frequently visited websites related to specific queries.
Previously exclusive to Android, trending search suggestions will now appear in the Chrome address bar on iOS, providing insights into popular search trends directly from Google Search.
Google has integrated live sports cards into Chrome's mobile Discover Feed, offering real-time updates on game schedules, scores, and highlights customizable via the Chrome app settings, for sports enthusiasts.
These new features are set to roll out soon for both Android and iOS devices, with Chrome Actions for local search already available on Android and slated for an iOS release later this fall.
