LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have arrested nine terrorists including two Daesh (IS) commanders.
The arrests were made during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in several cities of Punjab.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out in Lahore, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura and Rawalpindi. It added that two Daesh commanders were arrested in the border area of Lahore.
Explosive material, detonators, mobile phones and cash were recovered from the suspects.
The terrorists were identified as Rauf, Zubair, Zia, Waqar, Ameen, Masood, Sarfraz, Hameed Khan and Shahid.
The CTD spokesperson said the terrorists were planning to launch attacks on important installations in Punjab. Further investigation is under way and cases have been registered against the terrorists.
As many as 134 suspects were arrested by the CTD in 990 combing operations this week while 41,411 people were interrogated by the law-enforcement agency (LEA).
The spokesperson added that the CTD was committed to rooting out the menace of terrorism from Punjab in a bid to ensure security of the citizens.
