KARACHI (Dunya News) – A woman was killed and eight others were injured when two people riding a bike hurled a grenade in Lyari Behar Colony, South DIG Asad Raza said in a statement.

The woman was identified as 35-year-old Razia. Those injured in the attack were identified as Zohaib Javed, Khairullah, Wansh Dileep Kumar, Ateeqa Adam, Adil Adam and Ahsan Nabi.

Preliminary investigation suggested that it was a grenade thrown by the unidentified suspects riding a bike, the DIG said.

The deceased and the injured were bystanders, suggesting that the attackers did not have any specific target, but to spread panic in the area with the attack.

Meanwhile, Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr Raffat Mukhtar Raja sought details from the SSP Old City area regarding the attack.

Separately, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also took notice of the incident and directed the Karachi Commissioner to brief him.
He stressed the need to ensure best medical treatment to those injured in the assault.

Investigation was under way with the police parties formed to track down the suspects who fled after doing their subversive activity.
