Establishment still meddling in political affairs: Qureshi

Says country is sinking and a perfect storm is in the making

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that meddling by the military establishment in political affairs is still going on. 

Speaking at a private TV programme, PTI’s vice chairman said their (establishment) claim that they had nothing to do with politics was not true. He said like in the past, they were still involved in politics.

He said the country was sinking, there was a stalemate and Pakistan was on the verge of economic and constitutional crisis. A perfect storm was in the making, he said. Should the institutions shut their eyes in such circumstances, he asked. 

Mr Qureshi said the statement given by former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaisar about amendment to constitution to delay elections was his personal opinion and not party’s policy.
