'It is the constitutional right of the chief justice to take suo motu notices and remove registrar'
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Tuesday the upcoming ruling of the Supreme Court in the elections case would decide between the “democratic life or unconstitutional death of the state”.
In a series of tweets, the former interior minister said it would be tantamount to revolt if the apex court’s orders were defied and there would be no rule of law and constitution. He said all people and institutions were subservient to the top court.
Taking a dig at the government, he said PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had threatened that the decision of three judges would take the dollar rate to Rs500. “Bilawal keeps saying that emergency or martial law may be imposed. Shehbaz Sharif says the decision of three judges is unacceptable,” Sheikh Rashid lamented and warned that the premier might face contempt of court for defying the orders.

The AML chief said the coalition rulers on one side boycotted the judges but, at the same time, begged to submit arguments in court. He said the nation stood by the apex court and warned that there would be chaos if public took to the streets. He said the Sharif and Zardari families should be ready to face the public.
