PTI lawmakers to appear before NA speaker for verification of resignations

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The PTI legislators has decided to appear before the National Assembly Speaker next week for the verification of their resignations, Duny News reported on Sunday.

It is learnt that the party MNAs would either appear before the speaker on Wednesday or Thursday. PTI Chairman Imran Khan will decide the final date during the consultative meeting today.

The decision comes after the members didn’t get a response to the letter they wrote to the NA speaker. PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi reportedly wrote a letter to Ashraf a few days ago.

On Thursday, PTI leader and former information minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain dispelled the impression that the PTI lawmakers, who resigned from the National Assembly seats, were receiving salaries and perks.

Taking to Twitter, he said it was remarked in the Supreme Court on Wednesday that the PTI legislators were not joining the NA proceedings, but receiving salaries and perks.

He asked the judges to first get each news aired on news channels verified, saying the present government had told another lie as salaries of MNAs who resigned were suspended.

The minister said a letter was being written to the NA Speaker for asking him to allocate time for confirmation of resignations so that a new electoral process could be initiated.
