Copy of cypher goes missing from PM House, cabinet informed

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In yet another twist and turn of the events, a meeting of the federal cabinet on Friday was informed that the cipher, which PTI referred to as conspiracy to overthrow former prime minister Imran Khan-led govt, has gone missing from PM House record.

A meeting of the federal cabinet under the chairmanship of PM Shehbaz Sharif was held on Friday in which the issue of audio leaks was discussed in detail.

A special committee of the cabinet has been formed to investigate the audios related to the diplomatic cypher in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and it has been informed that the copy of the cypher is missing from the records of the Prime Minister s House.

The cabinet also expressed serious concern over the fact that the audios of the former prime minister, former principal secretary to the prime minister, and other people related to the diplomatic cypher have exposed the criminal conspiracy of the former government and Imran Khan.

The meeting noted that vital national interests were damaged by giving concocted meaning to a diplomatic cypher for political gains, and that it [the cypher] was stolen after "fraud, forgery, and fabrication."

It was a strong violation of the constitutional oath, other related laws and regulations, particularly the official secret. It was an unpardonable crime against the state through which political interests were given priority over vital national interests.

Therefore, it was necessary under the constitution, law and rules to investigate the issue in detail and those found responsible be given severe punishment in accordance with the law.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the false narrative of PTI chairman Imran Khan declaring the incumbent government a ‘product of conspiracy’ had totally busted and urged the nation to distinguish between truth and fraud.

“Imran Niazi wasted five months of the nation by concocting lies and propaganda about his successor government, however his own audio leaks exposed his fraudulence,” he said.

The prime minister said Imran Khan blamed the politicians as traitors, however in reality, it was he who betrayed the nation.

“Imran’s lies about an ‘imported government’ are in fact a conspiracy against the entire nation,” he said, stressing the need for people to understand the reality of a liar.

PM Sharif, who recently represented the country at the forums of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the United Nations General Assembly, said the leaders of some friendly countries during the sideline meetings conveyed him their annoyance over the irresponsible foreign policy of Imran Khan.

The prime minister said his government was steadfast in dealing with the immense challenges after the previous government pushed the country to the brink of economic collapse.

He expressed his commitment to rebuild and develop the country that was bearing the brunt of Imran Khan’s tenure in the government.

On Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said it is a good thing that the audio of him with Azam Khan has surfaced and demanded that the cypher be made public immediately.

The former prime minister criticised the coalition government and reiterated that after the regime change, the notorious looters prevailed in the country, who waived Rs. 1100 billion soon after coming to power. He questioned whether the enemy could do the injustice that they [the coalition government] had done in the last five months.

Talking about China, the PTI Chairman said that when he [Imran] was the Prime Minister, relations with China were at their peak. Imran said that due to the coronavirus outbreak, China was closed for two years to foreigners. He said his government had borne the cost of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The PTI Chairman came down heavily on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) vice-president Maryam Nawaz, saying that she [Maryam] has no shame as she procures machinery from India for her son-in-law. Imran bashed Maryam over saying to quash the health card, saying that in reply, Shehbaz said that his government would close the health card.

Expressing his concern over Pakistan’s not being able to become a "welfare state", the former premier said that he [Imran] had seen the principles of a "welfare state" in the UK, after which he had decided that if he got an opportunity to rule, he would put the country on track by following the principles of Riyasat-e-Madina. According to the PTI Chairman, without a health card, people may have become indebted and helpless as a result of diseases.

Speaking about the year 1960, Imran stated that Pakistan was on the path to exemplary progress at the time, but that due to the baggage of bad decisions, the country was unable to achieve sound footing development. The PTI Chairman slammed the PML-N, claiming that during its [PML-N’s] last five-year tenure, the country’s exports were not boosted. Taking a dig at the newly elected finance minister, Ishaq Dar, the PTI Chairman said that the person [Dar] who was responsible for the economic woes has been elected again as the finance minister.

The PTI Chairman slammed PML-N and PPP leaders, claiming that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari amassed wealth by leaving the people in debt. Taking a jibe at PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Imran said that when he [Nawaz] was all set to be arrested during the Musharraf regime, he [Nawaz] ran away by taking an NRO. He said that this thing is out of his [Imran’s] mind, that is, whether the guardians of the country are not looking at what is going on in the country.

Talking further about the leaked audio, Imran claimed that he came to know through the PM’s office that his [Imran’s] and Azam Khan’s audio had been released, which is against the Official Secret Act. While again targeting Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sikandar Sultan Raja, Imran said that no one could be as "cheap" as the ECP CEC is. Claiming that he [Sikandar Sultan Raja] is a servant of the Sharif family, Imran said that the CEC has no shame in resigning after the audio leaks.
