Liam Livingstone and Chris Jordan won't be a part of the white-ball series due to injury concerns.
LAHORE (Web Desk) - England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Friday named a 19-member squad for their tour of Pakistan later this year. Before the T20 World Cup in Australia, the Three Lions are set to take part in a seven-match T20I series to be played in Karachi and Lahore from September 20 to October 2. Liam Livingstone and Chris Jordan won’t be a part of the white-ball series due to injury concerns. While Jordan is recovering from a finger injury, Livingstone is yet to recover from an ankle injury. However, both Livingstone and Jordan have been included in England’s squad for the T20 World Cup Down Under.
Jordan and Livingstone sustained injuries while playing for Southern Brave and Birmingham Phoenix respectively. Both are expected to attain the desired fitness levels ahead of the World Cup.
Jos Buttler has been named as England’s skipper for the Pakistan series, but he is expected to be available only in the latter part. In his absence, Moeen Ali will take charge as the skipper.
Jordan Cox, Olly Stone, Luke Wood, Tom Helm and Will Jacks are the five uncapped players who have made their way into the squad.
England are expected to fly to Pakistan on September 14. The British team was set to play a bilateral series in Pakistan last year, but pulled out due to issues surrounding security concerns.
