Shan Masood becomes quickest player to reach 1000 runs in County Cricket

Shan achieved this feat during Derbyshire's first innings against Sussex.
LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan opening batter Shan Masood on Sunday became the first player this season to reach 1,000 first-class runs in the ongoing season of County Championship.
The 32-year-old achieved this feat during Derbyshire s first innings against Sussex. The left-hander become the quickest Derbyshire batter to reach 1,000 in just 12 innings, beating the previous record by Peter Kirsten of 16 in 1980.

Masood made 46 off 51 balls before he was trapped in front of the stumps by Steven Finn. The left-hander has thus far amassed 1037 runs, including three centuries and four half-centuries, in 12 innings in the County Championship.
Shan has been in prolific form for the last nine months and has scored runs wherever he has played. He is currently in the second spot on the list of highest run-getters in the T20 Blast with 516 runs at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 142.14.
Earlier, Masood passed 1,500 all-format runs for his club Derbyshire CCC as he made 75 off just 50 balls against Lancashire.
Meanwhile, Shan broke Club record for Vitality Blast half-centuries in a season by hitting five in one season.

It is pertinent to mention here that team India will travel to The Incora County Ground for their ICC Twenty20 World Cup preparations to face Derbyshire in a T20 Aston Lark Tour Fixture on Friday, July 1 and the County team will be leaded by Pakistani star Masood.
