President Alvi pens letter to CJP, PM: calls for judicial commission over ‘foreign conspiracy'

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday has forwarded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s letter regarding a foreign conspiracy to the present PM Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and said that an empowered judicial commission should be set up for the investigation of a foreign conspiracy.

President Alvi has responded to Imran Khan’s letter in which Alvi emphasized probing the foreign conspiracy.

In his response letter, the President said that there is a need for a full investigation into the alleged conspiracy to topple the government and he has read a copy of the cypher sent by the former ambassador of Pakistan to the US and the cypher report includes statements by Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu, which specifically mentioned a no-confidence motion against the PM Imran Khan.

The cypher also contained forgiveness in case of success of the movement and serious consequences in case of failure, Alvi said.

Dr Alvi also referred to two meetings of the National Security Committee that he said had confirmed that the statements were tantamount to unacceptable and blatant interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan and threats were made in non-diplomatic language.

In his letter, the President continued that he was of the belief that for a sovereign nation, a proud independent nation like Pakistan, and a people whose dignity had been deeply hurt; an in-depth analysis and investigation must be done to inquire into what may or may not have. In addition, President Alvi said that Investigations into many conspiracies in the history of Pakistan have been fruitless and conspiracies at the international level are also confirmed decades after the release of classified documents.

"Underscoring the need for a full investigation into the matter, he informed Mr Imran Khan that he was sending his letter to the Prime Minister of Pakistan as well as to the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, with the request that the latter may constitute an empowered judicial commission to conduct open hearings in this regard," Alvi said.
