Pakistan's first transgender doctor gets appointed in Jinnah Hospital

Dr Sarah Gill has been appointed at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in Karachi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The story of Pakistan’s first transgender doctor, Dr Sarah Gill, was cherished as a step forward to motivate the Trans people that they can also be successful in any field of life. A recent update regarding the aforementioned story reveals that Dr Sarah Gill has been appointed at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in Karachi. The news has added to the joy of people working to empower this community and it also has emerged as an example for our Trans fellows that there is hope.

The government has been taking special measures to empower the transgender community in Pakistan. The transgender community was allowed to get registered as citizens of the state and also an act was passed in 2018 that ensured the protection of the community and outlawed discrimination against them.

It has been further revealed that Dr Sarah Gill has met JPMC Executive Director (ED) Prof Shahid Rasool and obtained her house job order. The Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has arranged the opportunity for Dr Sarah Gill on the directions of the Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

“The provincial government is taking steps to bring forward transgender people in every field. The Sindh government will ensure that the community members get due respect in every profession,” said Sindh CM.
