Shoaib Malik to lead Zalmi against Gladiators in PSL-7 opener
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz will not be available for the opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Quetta Gladiators scheduled to be played Friday.
On Tuesday, Peshawar Zalmi had suffered a major blow after their captain Wahab Riaz and opener Haider Ali tested positive for Covid-19.
Both the players are in isolation. Zalmi will face Quetta Gladiators in their opening match of the campaign on January 28.
According to sources, Shoaib Malik will be leading the Zalmi as the stand-in captain as the skipper Wahab Riaz will be out of action following his contraction to the widely spread.
Shoaib has played 29 matches as the captain of multiple franchises, making him the fourth most experienced captain in PSL history. As a skipper, he has also won nine matches.
