Minar-e-Pakistan incident: Victim's medico-legal assessment completed

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Medical examination of Ayesha Akram, who was assaulted by more than 400 men at Minar-e-Pakistan in the provincial capital Lahore on Independence Day, was completed at Nawaz Sharif Teaching Hospital.
According to medical report, dozens of bruises were identified on the body of the affected girl. Ayesha’s neck and right hand are swollen. The victim also had scars on her back and both feet, the report said.
Police have taken into custody more than 30 people in connection with the incident of assault so far.
According to details, the boy Amir companion of victim Ayesha made the first call on emergency 15 at 7:15 pm while the second call was made at 7:26 pm and the third call was made at 8:15 pm while the concerned SHO arrived at the scene at 8.40 pm.
The police team rescued the girl from the accused and took her to the police station. However, the police did not arrest any accused on the spot.
Initially, the girl told the police that she did not want to take any action. The victim is a resident of Qila Lachhman Singh Ravi Road instead of Shahdara and is a nurse at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar directed to submit final report on the incident at Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day by today.
According to details, CM Punjab visited the headquarters and control room of the Safe City Authority and reviewed the security arrangements for Ashura processions and gatherings.
The IG Punjab gave a briefing to CM on the arrest of the accused involved in the incident at Minar-e-Pakistan.
The inquiry committee setup by the IG police will determine the negligence and role of police in the incident while committee setup by the secretary housing will determine the alleged negligence of PHA.
