Olympian Arshad Nadeem receives rousing welcome on return from Tokyo

Star athlete Arshad Nadeem was accorded a rousing welcome at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Star athlete Arshad Nadeem was accorded a rousing welcome at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday on his return from Tokyo where he put up a superb performance in the Olympic Games, Dunya News reported.
Arshad Nadeem, who finished fifth in the javelin throw event of the Tokyo Olympics, was received at the airport by Punjab Minister for Youth and Sports, officials of Athletic Federarion and a large number of people.
Nadeem missed out on an Olympic medal and finished fifth in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics, but the athlete from Mian Chunnu received wide acclaim back home for his achievement with little resources at his disposal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Punjab government announced cash rewards of Rs1 million for javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, weightlifter Talha Talib and mountaineer Shehroz Kashif.
Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimur Khan Bhatti said Pakistan’s participants Nadeem and Talib did really well in the Olympics. He said that participation in the Olympics and finishing fifth is also a great honour and added that we will fully support our athletes.
