Educational institutions to remain closed till Aug 19: Sindh education minister

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah on Sunday has announced that schools will commence from August 19 to facilitate students

Addressing a press conference, the minister said the students, teachers and examination staff will not be allowed to carry their mobile phones inside the exam centres.

While the provincial government will monitor the coronavirus situation in the 10 days till August 19, schools will remain closed as students have difficulties commuting due to the Muharram processions, he added.

On the other hand, National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) had announced to lift lockdown, enforced amid surge in coronavirus cases, in Sindh from August 9.

The Sindh Home Department had issued a notification of closure of government institutions till August 8 in the wake of coronavirus lockdown, under which all government offices under the Sindh government were announced to be closed from July 31 to August 8.

The NCOC joint session was held in Karachi participated by Chairman NCOC Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, National Coordinator Lieutenant General Hamood-Uz-Zaman Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM)

Health Dr Faisal Sultan and Sindh government team lead by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The forum lauded Sindh government’s efforts for increasing vaccination across the province.
