Polling for AJK Legislative Assembly begins

A total of 32,50,117 registered voters including 178,800 male and 146,8317 female

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Polling for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has started (Sunday).

A total of 32,50,117 registered voters including 178,800 male and 146,8317 female in all 33 electoral constituencies in all ten districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Moreover, all 12 constituencies meant for Pakistan-based Jammu & Kashmir refugees, would exercise their right of vote to elect the Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly, for next five years constitutional term.

Over 2.8 million voters have been registered in 33 Azad Jammu Kashmir constituencies and 0.4 million in 12 Jammu Kashmir refugees based in various parts of Pakistan.

The registered voters shall have to produce original computerized national identity card at the polling station at the time of exercising the right to vote.

AJK Election Commission has finalized all arrangements to hold free, fair, and transparent elections. All out security arrangements have also been made so that voters could cast their vote in a peaceful manner without any fear and pressure.

The Kashmiris living in any city of Pakistan will exercise their vote to choose their candidates on 12 constituencies meant of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in various parts of Pakistan.

A total of 587 candidates are contesting the elections in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir districts and 121 candidates on 12 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in Pakistan.

Over 40 thousand security personals including PAK Army, FC, Rangers & Police will perform duties to ensure peaceful polling.

5118 polling stations have been set up in all three divisions, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur. Out of the total 830 polling stations are very sensitive while 1269 are sensitive.

Gallup Survey

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the most popular party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). According to a survey of Gallup Pakistan, 44 per cent in AJK think that PTI will win the election tomorrow (Sunday) while PML-N has 12 per cent and PPP 9 per cent popularity.

Both PML-N and PPP have collective 21 per cent popularity as compared to 44 per cent of PTI.

According to the survey, Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared as the most trusted political leader in the survey with 67 per cent positive rating, Bilawal Bhutto with 49 per cent followed by Shahbaz Sharif with 48 per cent.

Maryam Nawaz has only 44 per cent popularity. Moreover, mostly Kashmiri people were of the view that tomorrow election would be free transparent and fair.
