Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemns increase in food, petrol prices

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Strongly condemning the increase in the prices of food items and petroleum products across the country, Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif said that the government has dropped new inflation bomb on the people.

“Increase in the price of sugar, ghee and flour at the utility stores is a proof that the government does not care about the poor and poverty in the country, the PML-N president said in a statement, adding that ghee from Rs170 to Rs260, 20kg sack of flour from Rs820 to Rs 950 is a list of the failures of the incumbent government.

Lashing out at the current government, the opposition leader maintained that the price of sugar increased from Rs68 to Rs85 at the utility stores which proves that there is no government in the country. The government has proved all the concerns of the opposition to be true by raising price of sugar.

He said that people were no longer able to buy flour, ghee and sugar even from utility stores. “I have already said in my budget speech that this is a deception of the government to people. Inflation has been rising every day and every week since the budget was presented,” he mentioned.

The PML-N president said that the people were deceived in the budget and inflation was destroying the people. “We will stop this oppression with our full force. The voice of the people will be heard inside and outside the parliament against inflation.”

He further said that the government, which deprived the people of their right to live, has no right to stay in power. “How will the people live in this inflation,” he questioned.
