Reform process resumed in Information Ministry: Fawad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says the reform process initiated in the Ministry of Information and its attached departments in 2018 is being resumed.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday, he said he has given deadline to complete the project of converting the PTV News on HD, which had been lying pending since 2019. He expressed the confidence that the PTV News will be fully converted into HD technology from June; and similarly PTV Sports will also be upgraded to HD technology.
The Minister said an English channel is going to be launched. He said the studios in Karachi and Lahore will be renovated in public-private partnership mode.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain vowed to transform APP into a digital news agency. He said steps have been initiated to make PID and its advertisement system paperless. The External Wing will be fully revamped.
The Minister for Information said revival of film and drama is his first priority. He said work is being started for productions of international level on the lives of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Tipu Sultan. He said we will give the facility of loan up to fifty million rupees to young drama and film makers under Kamyab Jawan Programme. He said houses under Prime Minister Housing project and health cards will be provided to both print and television journalists.
The Minister said legislation and insurance are being introduced to ensure payment of salaries to journalists. He said provision of facilities to press clubs will also be his policy. He said we will fully support digital media.
