Lahore: Over 38,000 challans issued in 4 days for violation of COVID-19 SOPs

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Traffic police have issued over 38,000 challans for cars and motorcycles in three days in Lahore over violation standard operating procedures (SOPs) designated to control coronavirus pandemic.

Twelve cases have also been registered for not implementing the orders while 228 vehicles have also been seized for traveling with over 50 percent passenger capacity.

Meanwhile, 26,933 motorcycles, 5,176 rickshaws, 2523 cars, 2247 public transport vehicles, 1106 minivans and 691 trailers were fined over violation of government guidelines.

CTO Lahore has reiterated the protection of human life is top priority of government and all resources will be used for this purpose. He clarified that no challan is issued if a only one passenger is traveling in a car but mask is mandatory if more than one passenger is in the car.
