Man who martyred head constable sentenced to life imprisonment

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A special Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi found the man accused of martyring a police head constable guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar sentenced the man for murdering the head constable in 2018 and gave him life imprisonment as well as a 0.25 million fine.

The convict, Irshad Qamar alias Wazir, shot dead Head Constable Muhammad Arif and injured Constable Wajid Hussain. The Bani police station had registered a case against the incident under the Terrorism Act and included counts of murder and attempted murder.

In another case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Hafiz Muhammad Tufail sentenced a man named Zain Hameed to 3 years imprisonment and slapped a Rs 45,000 fine after finding him guilty of rape. Police had registered a case against him in October 2019 on the complaint of Ghulam Murtaza, the victim’s grandfather. Murtaza had alleged that Zain nabbed the 8-year-old child, took him home and sexually assaulted him.
