Youth Festival Corruption Reference: PML-N's Rana Mashhood nominated by NAB

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has nominated former provincial minister Rana Mashhood in the Youth Festival Corruption Reference and submitted a report to the accountability court.

The report submitted to the court by NAB said that investigations were underway against Rana Mashhood but he was not cooperating. In 2013, he was given full responsibility of organizing the Youth Festival and he illegally issued payment orders to Wasim Ahmed. NAB said that the illegal actions of Rana Mashhood caused a loss of Rs 31.59 million to the national exchequer.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by Rana Mashhood said that NAB has been conducting an inquiry into the Youth Festival for six years but could not prove any role of his. How can it open another inquiry into the same matter, he asked. It may be recalled that NAB has filed a reference against seven individuals, including former DG Sports Board Usman Anwar, Wilayat Ali Shah, former Deputy Director Punjab Sports Board Muhammad Tariq, Zahoor Ahmed, Muhammad Hafeez, Ehsanul Haq and Muhammad Waseem.
