Smuggling said to have caused revenue loss of over Rs 500 billion in 2019

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - It has been revealed that more than Rs 500 billion was lost in revenue last year due to smuggling. Smuggling of mobile phones alone resulted in a loss of USD 776 million in revenue.

According to sources, smuggling of diesel last year caused a loss of USD 660 million, USD 638.4 million due to vehicle smuggling, USD 53.7 million due to auto parts smuggling and USD 170 million due tire smuggling.

Sources further revealed that the smuggling of tea, cigarettes, televisions, mobil oil and fabric caused losses of USD 63.7 million, 73.6 million, 79.3 million, 45.6 million and 289 million in revenue respectively.
