Government readies draft of new National Power Policy 2021
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has prepared the draft of its new national power policy, to be presented by June 2021. It will seek approval of the policy from the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
According to details, the draft proposes six guidelines, including timely decision on adjustment of electricity prices, avoiding delay in quarterly and monthly tariff adjustment as well as competition, transparency and efficiency.
Environmental responsibility and local research and development are also included in the guidelines. The integrated energy plan for the power sector is part of the policy draft, which will focus on power generation and transmission. The policy will promote competition and transparency in the sector.
